The fluid you poured in there... it has the same specification and properties as dexron II and dexron III , I would expect.
BUT, You must read the package you pour from.
You can ask at the Napa store for some reassurance, but not till they see the container you were using.
Container labeling has become very important for most of the industry. There have been MSDS files created for the proper use, storage, dispensing,clean-up, and disposal, as well as, how the item interacts with spillage and people's exposure to it.
In the event two chemicals would not go well in a transmission, they could tell you.
When seeing the container you poured from, they could look it up to see how it differs.
You can learn a wealth if info just looking at the many types and brands they sell, and being sure you only buy the ones that can help a GM product.
If it wasn't much, you should be fine. Just make sure you keep your fluid topped off at all times. You shouldn't need to flush the system. Check the chemicals inside each of the containers. Maybe even research the chemicals and how they should react inside your transmission VS power steering?
No, you're good to go. I've filled transmissions full of power steering fluid when I didn't have transmission fluid and I've never had any problems. The only difference is that the power steering fluid doesn't last as long, but you shouldn't need to worry about that given that you mostly used transmission fluid.
Don't bother going to all the trouble changing the transmission fluid and filter. The Turbo Hydro 400 has a lot of fluid capacity. Up to a pint of power steering fluid would not damage the transmission.
Guess what ? Power steering fluid Dexron II is transmission fluid
I've always used power steering fluid or transmission fluid in both, I have switched them and never had a problem
nah, your good ! just a little bit won,t hurt nothing ! besides there is enough transmission fluid in it and the power steering fluid will mix with it ! there,s no need of dropping the pan and don,t ever flush the transmission !
Power Steering fluid in transmission They are both hydrolic fluid . It should make no difference .
Have used tranny fluid in power steering and power steering fluid in trannys.. Both are high pressure hydraulic fluids. wont hurt a thing
I accidentally poured a little power steering fluid in my trucks transmission (old chevy square body with a th400) it wasn't too much since I realized I was poring the wrong fluid, would I need to get the whole system flushed or can I leave it as it is?
Trans fluid is nearly identical to power steering fluid and will blend in just fine. Don't sweet it!
truth be told, standard atf is very similar to power steering fluid. that thm 400 should not notice a difference. the color is the only thing that i see. if it were a honda, id worry.
in both the cases fluid is there,
either to lubricate or exert pressure
and not undergoing any chemical change.
so it should not matter.
They are both hydraulic fluids. It should make no difference.
They are both hydraulic fluids. It should make no difference.
I would try some in the oil it may fix that chevy up!
I would change the tranny fluid and filter and call it good.
never in the brake cyl will cost lot of money
No problem, except for your observation skills.
Hi just drain it and refill it with less fluid.
gg
Leave it.
may be.
