Pontiac vibe won't start?

Robert the non-mechanic is wrong again as usual.

Take the 12 volt battery to any store that sells new ones other than Auto Zone. Ask for a free *15 second battery load test to see what the reserve amperage capacity is. Amperage spins starter motors not voltage. You didn't list the year of your car. OEM (original equipment manufacturers) AC-Delco batteries are only good for 3 - 4 years because they are made on Mexico. AC-Delco Professional Batteries are made in the USA and have the longest free replacement warranty.

If the battery passes the load test, touch the battery terminals with an inexpensive volt meter set @ 20 volts with the engine running. IF the alternator is charging properly the volt meter will read between 13.5 - 14.2 volts. Denso alternators will not fit a Pontiac Vibe. AC-Delco re-manufctured alternators have a lifetime warranty and they do fit.

Thanks guys we worked on the battery cables and so far it seems to be doing good now

You have failing charge system. Power wags engine with GUNK ORANGE and focus on battery cables and alternator. Road salt gets at this and corrosion builds. The go to auto zone for free charge testing. At about 140k miles the alternator brushes can wear down and stop charging battery. Then there will not be enough oomph to start the car. Battery recharges as engine runs. All my cars start with a light tsp of key. No strain on systems. Denso makes those alternators and they are superb. Once engine bay is clean it may restore full functioning to charge system. If not get a genuine Denso rebuilt one. You're good to go for another 140K miles. Road salt gets into wiring and alt windings. Keeping engine clean delays deterioration. Good luck.

I assume those battery side posts are clean & tight? If you can, follow the ground cable down to where it bolts to the frame. Sometimes its just a corrosion issue, bad grd.

Pontiac vibe, it was running fine and then it started to have trouble starting it would start sometimes and sometimes not now it doesn't want to start at all. it clicks but won't start up and we replaced the starter and that didn't help does anyone else know what else it could be or had this happen to them?
