Perpetual Motion Machine?

Hydroelectric dams do that. They use gravity to make water flow through turbines to make electricity. BUT they require sunlight to evaporate water to drop as rain to fill the reservoir the water fills. So they are actually solar powered. Not gravity powered.

The laws of physics prevent perpetual motion.

There are scientific "laws" which suggest that perpetual motion is impossible. However... these scientific laws are simply scientific theories and, as history has shown repeatedly, scientific theories can sometimes be found to have exceptions.

That said... if someone is talking to you about perpetual motion machines and "free" energy and stuff like this, first thing to do is to HOLD ON TO YOUR WALLET, DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY. History provides a whole lot of examples of people claiming to have a perpetual motion machine and then conveniently disappearing with the investor's money.

Remember, extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof and any actual perpetual motion machine would be absolutely extraordinary.

To put it simply, perpetual motion machines do not exist.

We have no machines that are 100% efficient, and as far as i am aware 100% efficiency is either impossible or only a theoretical idea.

There is always the problem of friction. Any moving part rubbing against another object has friction, and therefore loses energy to heat loss. This loss in energy will eventually cause your machine to stop, so it is not perpetual.

There have always been attempts, but never a successful one.

Every energy conversion process has losses, so making a perpetual motion machine is impossible.

i was a believer in the whole free energy thing ....til i took physics..... first guy is right... no such thing as 100% efficiency, free fall, nor absolute zero, .....all of which are so far humanly imposible.... youd get about 40 percent efficiency off creating your own perfect machine... but youd end up putting more in than you could draw out for use...

I watched this link and some of the machines used are just using the force of gravity to do work, could these machines not be scaled up to run generators or would the friction of the generator require more work than what is going in?
