If the clutch is cable operated, then you can adjust where the clutch engages (The biting point) to where ever you like it best. It's a simple job. You may also want to lube the cable if possible, to make it operate smoother.
The Japanese know how a clutch is supposed to be and feel. Smooth as butter. Simple as that.
Clutches feel different from car to car but take it to a garage and have someone check it for you.
I can drive my instructors car fine and no problems with the clutch. I've had around 20 hours with my instructor.
When I got my own car with learners insurance it felt AWFUL, the clutch seemed to 'pop up' and It's hard to explain but it sort of felt like there was no leeway whatsoever and it had to be perfect. It's an old 1.3 KA.
I also drove a friends 1.0 Yaris after having 16 hours worth of lessons and clicked instantly, I could drive it all day and be fine like my instructors car yet my car has made me feel so nervous! All three are petrol.
Do you think there could be a problem with the clutch cable, or is the car just how it is?
