My 1991 Ford Tempo wont start?

How can it " sound like its not getting fuel " ?.........If it won't fire starting fluid, thed you got some spark or iginition problem

Odd one as we seem to have fuel and spark! Other than lack of compression or timing wrong it ought to run.

Has belt slipped? Can we run a diagnostic scan for fault codes?

Bear in mind if we have starting fluid in intake and sparks... It ought to at least fire a few times if not turn over few times.

Assuming we checked fuel supply and it's ok , spark system is firing correctly? ( wrong timing) etc

Then compression is the missing key. Check this . If we have decent compression? Then timing is wrong.

"one plug is loose and all the plugs are old"

You can get a set of plugs for less than 10 bucks.

What are you waiting for?

We had one of those many years ago and it did the same thing,we fixed ours by changing the electronic pickup in the distributor. It's kind of a pain to change as I remember.Hope this is your problem as well and fixes your car.

My car sat for about a week without any driving. After that week I tried to start it but it would not. At first I thought it was a fuel problem but there is plenty of gas. When I turn the key I don't hear any fuel but I disconnected the filter and fuel is pumping when trying to start the car. The battery is completely fine. The spark plugs give spark but one plug is loose and all the plugs are old. We tried starter fuel in the air intake and still nothing. Any suggestions? I want to try replacing the spark plugs but I do not want to waste money if that is not it. The car clicks and sounds like it wants to start but it never fires off, it sounds like its getting no fuel but we have checked that it is.
