Is chemical engineering different to genetics engineering?

Any overlap would be in biochemistry. I had a classmate from my ChE class go into biochemistry because she was interested in it and the ChE degree opened the doors. So it is possible, but not usual. Genetic engineering involves small scale processses and chemical engineering usually involves large ones.

Genetic engineering is not really an engineering discipline but rather an activity associated with biologists. To do both would require a second degree. In fact most people involved in genetics have Phd's

Completely different. There is no field of study called Genetics Engineering, which is more biological work than chemical.

Very different. There is no overlap.

Since year 4, I wanted to be a chemical engineer, Up until now, I've been interested in genetics so let me please rephrase the question, does chemical engineering involve genetic engineering, because i would love to do both :)
