2003 Jetta.
Rotors are about $30 each. and pads are about $50 for 4 wheels.
Go get another quote , 866 is high for me..
Also . if there is nothing wrong with your rotors you dont really have to replace them.
If you dont want to spend $ on your car. You can go to a diff shop and have them replace the pads for $150. and keep on driving.
That depends on the car. You can get all four, cheap rotors & pads for a 2006 Impala for $125, or all four premium rotors & pads for $450. That's dealer cost, just for the material. Shops usually charge the MSRP for the parts plus their hourly fee. While that might seem a little high, it's in no way out of line.
if Advance Auto rotors are $30 each you're at $120 for 4 rotors. Make sure to buy the platinum premium brake pads which will be at least $30 for the fronts and $30 for the rears. $200 for labor is fair. You're at $480 total. Find another private shop. Ask at Advance Auto for one of their commercial account customers if you are no good at picking a place to trust.
That's definitely high. A full fout-wheel brake job with new rotors should run around $550. Do NOT go to a chain operated brake/muffler shop. They're known for replacing calipers on every job and ripping people off to the tune of $1,000 or more. Find a reputable independent shop.
Midas runs specials for around $500 for complete brake service on special. If you do it yourself (buy pads/shoes, new rotors/drums or have them turned if able) you will only spend about $200 on parts.
Were they changing calipers? Is your car super rusty?
No way we can tell . . . . . would probably be dirt cheap for a Bentley......not a bargain on a Fiat.
I got quoted $886 for brake and rotor replacement for all four wheels.
I got my car in 2003, and have never replaced the break pads or rotors since the car was purchased, so it has been 11 years. I just recently hit 100,000 miles. They told me that I had 3 mm of break material left and recommended replacing the rotors.
Is $886 too much?
