I need to interview an engineer?

1. Dave

2. BSME UCLA

3. Northrop Grumman Corp. (Builds aircraft and spacecraft).

4. sorry

5. Design of ground support equipment for spacecraft, lifting slings, support stands, specialized equipment.

6. Subproject Engineering Manager and Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

7. Retired recently but I ran a group averaging about 10 engineers. We figured out what was needed, made 3-d computer models, made layout drawings and fabrication detail drawings, held design reviews, analyzed the design for strength and performance, oversaw the fabrication and assembly, provided technical supervision of the proof and performance testing, and provided technical assistance during the first use of the equipment. I also was responsible for the budget and schedule performance for the equipment.

8. Worked 40 hours a week, occasionally more.

9. BSME at UCLA. A few years later I got a professional engineers license in Mechanical Engineering although I never used it for anything except on a resume.

10. If I had it to do over, I might get a Masters degree in engineering.

11. My advice is to get a job in a field that you like so that you are having fun for the 40 hours a week. I don't know why some of the answers are saying that welders make more than engineers. I was making over $160,000 a year when I retired. I don't think welders make nearly that much and their work is much harder, more dangerous and less interesting.

" Even welders earn more than engineers. "

Mmm, that depends. What hours are they working? Job conditions? I agree welders can make good money, especially if you can get certified in alloy welding and/or pressure vessels but engineers are hardly poor. Starting salaries for chemical engineers is about $70, There are definitely better paying field out there but most engineers are pretty well paid.

I agree it's a tough course.

30+ year degreed chemical engineer

I really need an engineer to answer the 11 questions, because this is for a project.

I can answer question 11 for you. DON'T DO IT!!. Engineering is an extremely difficult course of study, and the pay for engineers is minimal. Work in finance, or law, or hotel management, or SOMETHING! Even welders earn more than engineers.
