Not direct sunlight, is all. Unless you dry off all waterdrops immediately. They act like mini magnifying glasses for sunlight.
I think it means in the shade ie in the shadow if it looks like rain forget it, by the way use a car shampoo not soap

Going to wash my first car for the first time and I want it to look good, I bought some soap and saw on the instruction to wash it in the shade. Is it shady enough if there are clouds in the sky (almost looks like it is going to rain, grey color)?
