How can you isolate a structure from surrounding vibrations?

you can not remove vibrations you can only decrease them up to a rate that it is imperceptible or safe for human occupants.

their are many ways

1. if vibrations are caused by sound you may use sound proofing material or wall barriers/partitions.

2. if vibrations are caused by impact loads such as vehicular activities, trains, elevators and other resonating activities dampers are provided within support of the structures.

there are such things as isolator pads which are sections of rubber between two metal plares

also another scheme is to mount on a large mass that is suspended by air bags

Put in a styrofoam box?

Mount it on resilient mountings.
