How can I make an LED strobe every 2 seconds?

Yeah, the good-old 555 timer is probably your best bet. This thing has been around since the 70's and has probably been in literally millions of home projects. Google it and you'll find a ton of stuff on it. Just have to set the R and C values correctly to get a time of two seconds, and then use a series resistor to get the right current through the LED, and there you go.

Maybe the 555 timer?

See "astable mode" in link.

(Look at other 555 information to see if you can get the long off/short on periods you want.)

Purchase a blinking l.e.d. You will find them advertised on eBay.

look here:

that will help

I want to make the simplest possible circuits to strobe or blink a 3 or 5 mm LED every 1.5-2 seconds. I would like it to be as close to simple and disposable as an led throwie. Anyone know what components I can use to make this happen?
