I tought I had the same problem with my laptop until I went to the

VA and had a hearing evaluation. I now have hearing aids and the volume on my lap top seems to have gotten much better.

The speaker control should have a volume and bass / treble switch.

The voice control or in the Control Panel

I have a set of remote speakers with amplifiers in them .

Try turning it off and turning it back on.
