Hey Grace ,
Well without knowing what car it is...it'll be an estimate. Im going to say between $1000-1500 if a mechanic did it...
If you bought your own parts $500-800
(Again this can vary depending on if this is a honda or BMW) get my drift ???
Cheers , Good luck
Never buy a car that needs fixing up unless you can do it yourself to save money. There is a reason the previous owner didn't fix all these things.
Depending on the car, a catalytic converter can cost over $1000. Tune-ups on some cars can cost several hundred in parts. Many newer cars have platinum or iridium plugs that can cost more than $20 each.
If the radiator needs replacing, it's probably because it's leaking. If the previous owner let it get low on coolant and overheat, there could have been extensive engine damage which will cost thousands more to fix.
I'd stay away from this car honestly.
By the way,you should be very proud of your spelling in your post. Most people misspell "catalytic converter" and "exhaust".
You did misspell "Sensor" though ...
Unless you are asking about a way to limit the amount of O2 coming from the car. A device that did that could be called an "O2 Censor" lol :)
It is often not worth buying a car which the current owner doesn't believe is worth repairing, not unless you can do all the work yourself.
I am looking to buy my first car and have found a car I like but it needs some fixing up.
The radiator needs to be replaced, along with the catalytic converter, O2 censors, exhaust gaskets, and it needs a tune up and smog.
Could anyone tell me the minimum this all might cost if I had a mechanic do it?
And could anyone tell me how much the parts would cost if I did it myself?
Thanks!
