Good tuner cars for beginner?

This sounds very familiar to where I grew up in.

Mitsubishi: all their cars are good.

Nissan: all their cars are good.

Honda: coupes/sedans are really good (not crossovers)

Pontiacs: good choices but they have engine problems. They leak oil and never lose their engine lights. Their electronics don't work after a while and their windows fall into the door.

Toyotas: some of the old Supras don't last very long, but a stickshift celica is a good option if you don't mind bleeding the clutch every so often.

Mazdas: all their cars are good.

Hyundai: bad quality short-life.

Kias: bad quality short life.

Volkswagen: all cars are good, but tuner VWs are not very common.

Just don't tune up an american style ford/chevy/dodge or rednecks will likely slash your tires. It happens to the little mustangs where i'm from. Chevy Aveo, Ford escort (girl version) and Ford probes can be tuned though.

You'll find out that this is a LOT of money for not much reward. Exhaust tips, painted rims, painted grille, decals are best ways to look tuner without spending lots of money. Stay away from Toyota automatic transmissions. Dont blast your music or rev your engine at night in town. It only pisses people off but its okay during daylight. Good luck! Have any questions, just message me

You won't get any of those cars in decent shape for anywhere near 5 grand. Also do you have any idea how much you'll pay for insurance for high performance cars at 16? A freakin fortune, that's how much. Just drive the pickup, save your money for college and then get a nice car when you graduate from college.

While you're in high school take auto shop if they offer it. The cars you mentioned are expensive if they run and even the ones in the salvage yard might be too much for a hobby project. There's a lot you can do with your Ranger- the car you have- rather than your pipe dream you don't have.

Good luck finding a supra or nsx for cheap. But you probably can find a decent Mitsubishi for that price! And civic si's aren't bad cars either and they can be found in your price range

2002 or 03 Altima 3.5L with a stick, nothing even comes close to the bang for the buck. $3500. gets you to 60 in under 6 sec and a 14 sec. 1/4 mile. With the factory software TSB you'll be stomping on 350z

Mazda RX-8

Take that Ranger and drop a 5.0L V8 in it. It will be pretty fast after that.

Hey, I will be 16 soon and am getting my Dad's Ranger for my car. I want to get a job right after I turn 16 and get my license. I originally wanted a 2002 Ws6 Trans Am Ram Air, but they are expensive and I decided to get one when I graduate. In the meantime, I wanted to buy a tuner car around summer time when I've saved up some money, so I can have something to fix up and play around with. I am not getting one for a few months at least, but want to start researching now. I want a sports car (a ricer) that I can pick up cheap, and fix up with only a little bit of money at a time since I will be making minimum wage. I am looking for a 2 door car, not anything like a civic. I am thinking about looking for a car like these: 1990's Mitsubishi 3000gt VR4, Late 1990's Mitsubishi Eclipse Gst/Gsx, 1992-2002 Toyota Supra (The Cheaper ones, not the super expensive ones), or a Nissan 300zx twin turbo. I would love a turbo Supra or an Acura NSX, but they seem to be WAAAYYY out of my price range. So what are pros and cons to the 4 cars I have listed? Are they reliable enough for normal nice weather driving, are they easy to hype up, (engine wise, i'm not into changing a lot of body parts), and can I get them cheap, around $3,000-$5,000? And if you could put them in best to worst in terms of my price range, and possibly give other examples of more cars, thanks a ton!!!
