Engineering design problem?

gears would also help

The Watts Mechanism or Linkage.

It is a four bar linkage, with a crank , connecting rod and a follower.

The crank and the follower are the same length, and the connecting rod can also be the same length or longer.

As you rotate the crank, and plot the path of the midpoint of the connecting rod, you will get straight line motion up and down.

I would consider using a seesaw with uneven lengths with two pulleys one to hold the long side up and then one to pull it down.

Gears, do the physics with a ratios to determine the lifting power etc.

I have to design a device that can transform a small input force (like a light pull) into enough force to lift 2 pennies vertically 10cm. What are some idea that I can use to help with this design? I'm thinking pulleys might work. But I would like some more ideas. Thanks.
