Take it into Autozone or equivalent again and get the codes read. The above web site is a description of the various codes. The MAF code is an 0101 code and the flashing engine light is an 03 code----two different things.
could be a misfire as stated above or it could be the speed sensor is going out
When an engine light flashes it means the misfire is serious enough to damage the catalytic converter. That means you STOP driving and get it fixed. By now you've most likely caused damage to the converter by playing guessing games. Get the current code read and post here if you need help.

read your owners manual, a flashing cel is a misfire.
I have a 2003 Chevy avalanche 5.3 1500 regular drive. No 4x4. It has 173578 miles as of right now. I am having problems trying to figure out what the flashing engine light means. I asked a couple mechanics and they tell me it's the plugs and wires. So I change them out to the ones they are supposed to take. Didn't work. Still flashing. So I had it diagnostic check on it or whatever it is and it comes up that it's the (MAF). So, I buy a new one and change it out and it's still flashing. I replaced alternator and better and water pump on it as well cause those things were going out. Any who, when I go above 70 much on the highway, it starts to flash and then just stays on. Some days it will be off for like 2 days and then it'll come back on flashing. I appreciate your time and help with with this problem I am having. I need to know what it could be cause my inspection sticker is past due by 2 months. Please help and thanks. Cops are hard on but back roads come in handy to avoid.
