Emergency break left on, help please!?

If the car stalled while you had the e-brake on then it could cause it to stall. The e-brake uses the rear brakes so the front brakes will be fine.

e-brake issue.

i would go to a hill. engine on now, so you still have power disc braking, in neutral, not park, set the hand barke. if it holds on a fairly steep hill, prolly fine. when it comes time for routine rear brake maint, who ever does it, should also perform e-brake shoe/drum inspection.

in the intirim, just keep ears open for any abnormal "ssst-sst" or squeaking back there. typically it's no biggie. but 3.5 miles is some distance. so wanna be somewhat confident that the e-brake does still function.

it they didn't hold, might wanna get them checked out. could be a matter of just being glazed. and a shot of "brake clean" *might* be all that's needed. if anything at all.

FYI, should have all wheel disc brakes. rears will have an inner drum shoe config. all activates seperately. so normal driving/braking should not be effected. just that the e-btake is important. should never fully rely on "park".

If you have a straight drive, then I guess the emergency brakes could have contributed to the stalling indirectly...just depends on your driving habits. The emergency brakes are usually only applied to the rear wheels, so your front brakes are not affected. Your rear brakes may now have a little more wear on them but I doubt it is significant. Don't feel stupid...you just earned more driving experience and no harm was done.

that would not cause a car to stall , Your care should be ok there will just be a little more wear on the rear brakes

So today I just drove ~3.5 miles with my emergency break on. I had just got the front breaks replaced like 3 days ago. I knew something was wrong because my car stalled at a stoplight. Did having the emergency break on cause it to stall? Also will my car be alright? This is the first time it's happened, as far as I know (bought it used). I'm a new driver and I feel really stupid. For reference, my car is a 1997 subaru legacy outback wagon.
