Any profession, including mechanical engineering, may require that you travel by plane at one time or another. The plane phobia issue can not be particularly related to mechanical engineering. Moreover, mechanical engineering is so broad and diverse that you may end up with a job that do not involve traveling by plane at all.

Engineers are logical rational human beings. With that in mind you should use those characteristics to overcome your fear. There are people who can help you with this phobia.

You are seriously limiting you chances for a full career in any endeavor because of this problem. Meet it head on and look forward to a full career.

mechanical Engineering can be involved in anything from Car and Truck repairs to working on Mining equipment so a bit hard to be specific. If you work on cars you can stay local, if you get a mining job you will have to travel unless you relocate and live in a mining town.

Depends on the job. Some jobs you will be traveling, while others you will never leave one building.

Okay well I've been looking into mechanical engineering and I'm pretty fascinated by it. Now, straight to the point. I don't do good on planes. Traveling by plane is my only phobia. I can not get over it. I wouldn't go into mech. Engineering if I had to travel by plane at any time. Do engineers have to travel by plane or is it just roadtrip stuff?
