Most engineers I know can no longer do much calculus. Out of 100 "engineers" maybe 10 actually design things. Even those use computers to do most of the math. The rest simply have to understand basic physics, like W=IV, V=IR, a=dv/dt, etc. Many become project managers and just have to add up the budget. I recently had to explain power factor to an "engineer". Once you get your degree, you can pick an "engineer" job that needs as much or as little math as you like, up to a point. Obviously you should have no trouble calculating 15% of $500 in your head.

You don't have to love math. You just need to able to apply it. Vector Calculus, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, and Statistics are the minimum.

I simple like it. im not passionate about it. i just want the money and prestige and i'll be happy. it's something i don't mind doing everyday. but is it grueling and only for the passionate? will math drive me bonkers?
