Sensible heat is the energy required to change the temperature of a substance with no phase change. The temperature change can come from the absorption of sunlight by the soil or the air itself. Or it can come from contact with the warmer air caused by release of latent heat (by direct conduction). Energy moves through the atmosphere using both latent and sensible heat acting on the atmosphere to drive the movement of air molecules which create wind and vertical motions
the heat which can be sensed i.e when you heat the water from 20 degree C to 100 degree C before starting the phase change is called sensible heat. where as the heat required to convert saturated liquid to saturated vapour is called lattent heat. in this case since temperature does not change so you can not sense the heating while in the previous case you can sense the heating since the temperature changes as you supply the heat.
Sensible heat is the amount of energy released or absorbed by a chemical substance during a change of temperature.
