Civil vs mechanical engineering?

I am an engineer. Engineers plan, design, implement, improve, and sustain systems, processes, services, and products.

They do NOT physically build things. There is almost Zero hands on work. That is the job of technicians such as calibrators, assemblers, electricians, plumbers, and mechanics.

Demand? Both will always have high demand. Civil Engineering is the second oldest field of engineering. The first is Military Engineering. Mechanical Engineering is also hundreds of years old. Both fields will be around for hundreds of years to come. There will always be a need for infrastructure and machines.

Mechanical Engineering is easier because Civil Engineers never stop studying and going to school. Most Civil Engineering jobs require PE (Professionial Engineering) licenses. You have to take 20 credits (CEU's) per year of classes to maintain the license. If you lose the license, you lose your job.

The reason why Civil Engineering standards are so strict is because they are responsible for infrastructure, roads, bridges, buildings, dams, and more.

If a doctor makes a mistake, a patient may die.

If a civil engineer makes a mistake, thousands may die.

At this point you should concentrate on taking as much math and science you can. There is plenty of time to decide if you want an engineering career as well as which discipline you might want.

By the way, building roads and infrastructure may not be the best idea for an interesting career or a high paying salary. Likewise very few mechanical engineers get to build engines or machines. That doesn't mean mechanical engineering can't be a great choice. Try to learn more about all the engineering disciplines.

You may want to visit the websites for the American Society of Civil Engineers at www.asce.org and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers at www.asme.org for a local chapter near you to find out what outreach and mentoring programs are available to you. You may be able to speak at length with a professional civil or mechanical engineer in their office to see what they do. Each society also sponsor contests (normally at the high school and college level) where you may be able to visit to get a sense also.

Both.

I am intrested in both fields i want to build roads, infrasturcture. But at the same time also want to build machines and engines.

I dnt know which one i should go

Which one will be more demading in the future. I am currently in grade 9. Tell me which one will be more demading in the future.

Thanks,

Cool
