Burp the cooling system. Take the radiator cap off turn the heat to high and the blower fan to medium, start the car and let it idle for 20 minutes. Press the gas to to around 2500 rpms slowly and slowly back down, do that 5 times. Then turn car off let sit for 30 minutes and then put cap back on.
You can replace radiator cap, but get and OEM one or OEM quality.
Check and see if your fans are coming on, turn the car on and wait for it to warm up, when the car gets warm enough the fan should kick on. If it doesn't I would see about replacing the fan motor, it's a cheap fix.
Flushing the old coolant doesn't get the corrosion, rust and slime out if the cooling system. For that you should have CLEANED the cooling system with one part powered acid cooling system cleaner.
sounds like head gasket going
I have an 03 eclipse. 145,000 miles. What happens is when I start it, it runs fine till about 5 minutes in it creeps up to about 75%. The.n the thermostat opens, and it runs like 60%. (This car should run at 45% on the gauge). But, when I'm waiting at a stoplight or drive thru it goes up to about 70% until I start moving.
-I flushed the fluid
-no air in system
-oil and other fluids are fine
I'm thinking the thermostat. Could it not be opening at the right temp?
