Matthew is correct. You somehow adjusted the air/fuel raito and now it wont idle. You have to undo what you did. If you aren't sure what you did, take it to a mechainc, there are too many different adjustments to list and you would not know how to do them. No, It is an Air/ fuel ratio problem.

You probably misadjusted the mixture on the carb or knocked off a vacume hose

Again... If you don't know what you're doing, stop screwing with it. You can only make it worse.

2005 vw citi golf mk1 1.4 carburettor. car was working fine. i did something by the carburettor and for some reason IT DOESNT STAY ON ANYMOrE. IT DOES START AND DRIVE BUT I HAVE TO KEEP MY FOOT ON THE PEDAL FOR IT TO STAY ON. CAN THIS BE AN ALTERNATOR PROBLEM?
