A 6-12 volt tester IS the proper one! You just used it wrong!
Here is a sample wiring diagram: http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/piciu1...
Still think you are up to it?
So now that you don't have the money to hire someone that knows what they're doing, do you have the money to fix all the stuff you broke? Some things I don't mess with and electrical crap is one of them. All you have to do is touch one thing wrong and KABLOOEY!!! something else is broke. And guess what you did.
If you don't know what you're doing, (and it's VERY obvious that you don't) then stop screwing with it. Take the car to a REAL mechanic and pay to have it fixed.
The best is google and manual reading
No
I have a 97 mirage.
Originally I came here and asked for help about my air conditioning not working (the fan was working but not the cooling).
I was given very detailed instructions from a guy which resulted in me losing the in-car fan also.
Subsequently I played around with the fuses and and all my in car electrics went except for the stereo (lost the dashboard lights etc) .
1 of my brake lights went out also and apparently my entire rear lights aren't working now (with the exception of 1 brake light). **I know this because I just got pulled over and got a canary put on the windscreen.
I would like to know where to get diagrams and things so I can try to figure this out myself (am low on cash).
I have 7 days to get it done and my understanding is electrical work is both expensive and takes time to book in.
I know how to repair wires (in general) and provided I was able to discover the issues (using the diagrams), there shouldn't be a reason why I couldn't do it myself.
Advice appreciated.
