Buying Non OEM Wheels Advice?

Posted at: 2015-01-07
Hi there are many issues with buying wheels you know nothing about the wheel nut spacing is one the offset that is where the wheels are with respect to the body when fitted. so if the offset is wrong they rub on the bodywork and might not even go in the wheel arch. so i would leave these well alone do not go there in fact it is more likely they are a complete waste of money.

Non oem wheel might be good quality, they might not, the cheap wheels will not be very good. Seems like a waste of money but it is your money to waste, cheers.

Cheap sh1t.

Also, be aware that 18" rims with the necessary low profile tyres will ruin both the ride and handling of the car, and will undoubtedly fail or even break completely within months if you do 40K a year. There is NO give in the tiny sidewalls of these tyres, and any pothole will go straight into the wheel, probably buckling it.

VW spend millions on testing.....so that the buyer can be assured that everything is connected so to provide perfect....balance....suspension....comf... fuel consumption....etc....anything fitted that differs from their specs will cause imperfection....that is why they are where they are in the car market.....I know this does not answer your question....but any part that is not made by VW provides a weakness in the way the car was designed...

Many none genuine wheels get problems. You have to tell your insurance company and they well want more premium for a none genuine wheel unless they are from a reputable source and have a good warranty.

That would be a good price if they would be good quality but i think they're gonna break to pieces like its nothing in a matter of months. They look cheaply made and i wouldn't trust it but ultimately, its up to you.

Replica wheels are almost never a good buy. They are cheap for a reason and therefore not worth the hassle. It's not even the finish I would be concerned with but the fact that they will bend or fracture well before any OEM wheel does.

Hi, I've found these wheels link at the bottom, I'm concerned about buying them mainly because I do actually take care of my car. I don't have enough money for genuine VW 18s I have 17s genuine on there at the moment. I'm wondering if the below wheels are a good buy, they come with no warranty however I've heard bad and good about buying non oem wheels, I take care of my car it does 40,000 miles a year and at that mileage it has to be taken care of its washed weekly etc. My wheels are a similar machined finish on my car at the moment. Obviously OEM wheels are built to last and my questions are: If you take care of your car are replica wheels a good buy? or just not worth the hassle? if they are a good buy will the finish last do you reckon?

Any answers would be appreciated to help make my decision.
