If you have a trailer light connector i would use that to power the removable frame. With white LED's you need about 4 volts to light then up so i would get a three cell battery holder from Radio Shack and use three rechargeable NiMh (AA) batteries to power the lights. You can get several hours of light that way.

with 8 LED's at 20ma each and three AA batteries at 2500 mah you would get 15 hours per charge..
An easier way would be to hook up a trailer connector to the existing License plate lights. Use 12 volt lights in the frame. Just unplug it when you want to remove it...
here is a link to several 12volt strips

Well, I can't find the info, but let's pretend the bulb draws 5v and has a power of 5watts. Would I be able to use a 6v battery? These seem like childish questions, but I honestly don't know electricity... :'(
The light runs off of 12 volts DC - it uses automobile power.
I don't know if you are using it on a car to light a license or just to get a light source. You would need a 12 volt lead acid battery
No, the 645 batteries (6 volt, 4.5 AH ) would not work.

what is the power drawn by the bulb/ What is the AH of battery and its voltage? for example a 6V 12AH battery is capable of providing for 10 hrs, a power of 7watts.
I wanted to get a temporary "lighted" license plate holder, like the "Peterson M436B Clear License Plate Light with Steel Bracket" from Amazon. Since it is only temporary, I will take it off a lot, so I was wondering if it is possible to connect this license plate holder to a portable rechargeable battery with ground, etc. (such as the UPG UB645 Sealed Lead Acid Batteries UNIVERSAL BATTERY again from Amazon). Would this work, and for how long would the battery be charged with average use?
I think the light takes 5v or less, but I am not sure how to find this information on the site. Any recommendations would be appreciated because I really am bad in physics/electricity understanding?
