Am I being overcharged for bumper repairs?

show photo so we can judge damage otherwise its like asking length of a bit string we cant see.

Bumpers arent cheap neither is paint to match honestly I think this is about right here especially if OEM parts are used. you can shop around and maybe save a few bucks but since the insurance isnt involved they are saving you a lot of money in the long run. What you may think is minimal damage entire panels need to be replaced plus all the parts that hold them to the body. Body shops will ALWAYS try to make the easy buck but again you dont have insurance on your side. just pay up and think of this as a 900 dollar maybe I should pay more attention next time occurrence...

Compared to the cost of similar repairs on other cars I've heard about, that seems very, VERY reasonable.

Its an almost new car - - they have the right to have it repaired properly at the shop of their choice.

I hit an animal once and busted my front bumper. I took a peek at the bill before it was sent to the insurance company and it was around $1100.they are right, because bumpers are plastic, they can't be repaired using traditional methods of sanding, filling, and painting the scratches. That price seems quote reasonable to me.

Alright so I rear-ended someone in the parking lot while coming into a parking spot. The other person's car was a 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek. His rear bumper got dislocated about an inch at most and there were a few scratches I think (they were hard to see, that's how minor they were).

We decided not to get the insurance companies involved because they would jack up my insurance since I'm still pretty young. Therefore, I am paying for all the repairs. However, he's choosing the auto repair shop he wants to take it to since we live about 30 minutes apart.

The estimate he got from the auto repair shop was about $830 (new bumper+labor). He added "They won't be able to just repair the paint and plastic because it's all one piece and has texture they can't repair." Looking at the estimate, less than half of the cost came from the bumper and the other (larger) half from a new paint job. I will say that the labor costs were pretty reasonable ($55 per hour).

I'm just a bit taken aback because it didn't seem like too much damage and it even looked like the bumper could just be popped back in. There were no dents in the bumper and the scratches weren't serious either. Am I being overcharged to fix this amount of damage?
