It mean a "elec sensor" is bad thus need replacement or certainly could be a broken wire going to the sensor.

You need to find a good trust-able local repair shop near your home. Ask around, ask who you family uses, car dealership are often more expensive.

"I make very low income"

Would you say it's wise for someone who makes very low income to drive a car that's expensive to maintain?

I wouldn't, and here's my answer. Trade it in on a good car while it's still running. This thing will drain your bank account in a hurry. It's too old, and since it's a cheap entry level model, few people are impressed. I mean, just about anyone can afford one.............except you obviously.

According to the code reader, either the CP sensor, or circuit board which, unfortunately, is likely located in main computer (ECU) Should be able to clear code w/ OBD 2 reader, how long does it take to re-set? Long enough to get car smogged?

Get a written estimate, or, better, get two.

I'm a girl who knows nothing about cars, I'm afraid if I go to a shop they're going to have me fixing more than what I have to (and charge me an arm and a leg). I really just need it to pass emissions so I can register it in CT. My dad's friend had a reader, he told me the code was for the "camshaft position sensor circuit board or a single sensor" and I truly have no idea what this means. I have a friend who is going to school for mechanics and said if it's a wire or a sensor replacement he could help. But I just want to know what are the possible parts I might need?

What are some possible affiliated problems, could it be a bad wire or some other part or is it a pretty safe bet to go and buy a new sensor, which are less than 50 bucks on eBay. I'm trying to do this as efficiently and cheaply as possible, I make very low income and I'll make even less if I don't get this car fixed, I need to drive myself to work!
