You "know" nothing of the sort. Neutral switch prevents starting and nothing else. It is an idle issue as the only time it dies is when it's idling.
You have the engine idle set too low. Idle should be about 600 rpm in drive. You may have adjusted it in natural.
Neutral switch has NOTHING to do w/ idling, there so car cannot be started in gear. Transmission should be TH400, Neutral switch is sorta half-moon shaped thing inboard of shift selector on trans. w/ 2 wires going to it. Your problem IS a carb./vacuum/timing/ignition issue.
Neutral safety switch typically only prevents the car from starting. These switches are usually located on the steering column under the instrument panel.
Good Luck!
What was that?
So I know for a fact my neutral safety switch is bad, but every time I put the car in gear and leave it there for about ten seconds without even moving the car it dies, I can drive it just fine but when it comes to a stop light or stop light, it dies. I know for a fact its not an idling issue or a carburetor issue, could a neutral safety switch tell a car to die when its put in gear? Also if anyone has any pictures on where the Safety switch goes, that'd be great!
