if it only drops down to zero for a few days you are fine , you will just have to let the vehicle warm up more before you drive off and stay at lower revs for the first few miles to give the heavier oil time to warm and thin out and it may be a bit harder to start the car at below zero temps
if it stays below zero for days at a time make sure you use 5w 40 when you top up the oil and when you do the next change
The 5w would be more ideal but just warm up the car a little long before going.
5W will flow better at cold temps. If it's not staying below for long periods (like a month) you should be OK with 10W
Not alot after a month or so it will be down to 5w anyway
So I got oil today, and my manual says 5 if it drops below 0 degrees. I got 10w, if it goes below 0 every once in a while will this hurt my engine? 89 tbird base coupe.
